Quantities and Contracts

The department is tasked with tendering and administering the acceptance of development and recurrent works contracts and to provide quantity surveying services related to such contracts

Further the department has vital offices which include:

  • Pre-contract office

  • Contracts document office

  • Contracts register office

  • Cost Planning Unit


 

The functions perfumed within the department include:

  • Preparation of cost estimates for proposed works.

  • Preparation of bills of quantities for proposed works.

  • Project supervision and project cost management.

  • Ensuring that proper contracts and tendering procedures are used for works.

  • Advising on all matters concerning invitation and acceptance of tenders and administration of contracts.

  • Maintaining register of contracts.

  • Advising on contracts and legal matters.

  • Processing of post tender documentation and application of funds,

  • Vetting QS consultants’ fee notes.

  • Analysis and certification of contractual claims.

  • Maintaining the works programme files.

  • Issuing and receiving of all tender documentation.

  • Processing, recording and dispatching of payment certificates.

  • Recording of all contracts entered in the department.

  • Filing and issuing of contract documents in the strong room.

  • Introduction and maintaining of cost planning techniques.

  • Collecting and compiling of cost information of materials for the building industry.

  • Supplying cost information to the government and international bodies.
