The mechanical directorate is mandated to design, document, supervise, test, commission, monitor and maintain mechanical installation(s) in public facilities. 

The directorate works closely with other construction professionals in the ministry such as architects, structural engineers, quantity surveyors, electrical engineers amongst others.

 The mechanical Engineering (BS) directorate is classified into three categories:
