Proposed Guidelines

DRAFT FRAMEWORK ON BUILDING INSPECTIONS, AUDITS AND SAFETY TESTING SERVICES IN KENYA -2026.

This draft framework is issued as a statutory Instrument pursuant to the National Building Code, 2024 (Legal Notice No. 47 of 2024), and shall therefore carry the full force of law. It is to be read in conjunction with, and construed as an integral part of, the  Building Code. This framework is hereby shared to facilitate meaningful stakeholder engagement. Its purpose is to establish a coherent, risk-based and enforceable regulatory structure that clearly outlines standards, procedures and responsibilities for all parties involved in the building safety regulatory system in Kenya.

DRAFT STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE(SOP) FOR MSACC -2026.

This Draft SOP provides detailed guidance for the establishment, functioning and  coordination of the MSACC; Sets out how the MSACC will vet buildings and structures in Kenya to determine their suitability for habitation and use, and their eligibility for remedial works, restricted use, closure or demolition; 
and propose the processes, roles, tools and information flows that enable multiple institutions to work together effectively on unsafe  building risks.

DRAFT CONDITIONS OF ENGAGEMENT AND SCALE OF FEES FOR CONSULTING INTERIOR DESIGN SERVICES IN KENYA.

The proposed Guidelines seek to  define the responsibilities, scope of work and services, and prescribe minimum scale to be used in establishing professional fees with a view to making the client fully aware of the duties and services which he/she may expect from a Consulting Interior Designer. Further, the document shall be used as a guide in registration and engagement of Consulting Interior Designers that may be engaged by various Ministries, Departments, Agencies and even by County Governments. DRAFT NATIONAL GREEN BUILDING STANDARDS FOR KENYA -2026.

These standards under development seeks to mainstream green building practices in Kenya’s Building &construction industry. The standard shall be issued as a statutory Instrument pursuant to the National Building Code, 2024 (Legal Notice No. 47 of 2024), and shall therefore carry the full force of law(where applicable). It is to be read in conjunction with, and construed as an integral part of, the  Building Code. They are shared to facilitate meaningful stakeholder engagement. They set forth guidelines and criteria to promote sustainable, resource-efficient and environmentally responsible construction practices in Kenya.
