Handaruku and Odole Footbridges Ground Breaking Ceremony in Garsen Constituency, Tana River County

On 16th January 2025, a team from the State Department for Public Works led by the Principal Secretary Joel Arumonyang, CBS and accompanied by officers from the State Department who included Chief Structural Engineer Benjamin Mwangi, Secretary Administration Mr.Rioba, Project Engineer Jackson Chepkwony and Economist Mr.Wainana witnessed the ground breaking ceremony of Handaruku footbridge and Odole footbridge in Garsen Constituency, Tana River County.

The ground breaking ceremony Chief Guest was the Cabinet Secretary, National Treasury and Economic Planning FCPA, Hon.John Mbadi, EGH.

The two footbridges will assist the area residents in crossing the crocodile's infested Tana River.

The footbridges will also enhance communication between settlements in accessing schools, markets, health facilities, security and evacuation during seasonal flooding that occurs in the Tana Delta during the heavy rainy season.
