The Digital Information Management for Public sector Conference
Day 1 of the Digital Information Management for Public Sector Conference was flagged off by the Chief Architect on behalf of the Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Works PS. Joel Arumonyang, CBS, accompanied by Heads of Departments from the various technical departments, Director ICT and other members of staff. The event was also graced by the National Housing Corporation led by their MD/CEO Qs. David Mathu, MBS, the National Construction Authority, the State Department for Transport and the State Department for Roads.
The discussions were facilitated by a robust team from AUTODESK led by Hassan Aoun, the Autodesk Africa Lead and Peter Ongeri, the Country manager at Autodesk responsible for Kenya, in conjunction with WorldsView Technologies led by the CEO, Mr. Simon Tomlinson. We had an engaging interaction on transforming business processes in the Built environment, where today’s discussions focused on the role of Building information Modelling (BIM) for the Public Sector, stake holder benefits of Digital Transformation and addressing current challenges in Construction projects.
From the conference, the State Department for Public Works expects to develop a National BIM policy framework, which is in line with its policy making and planning mandate, that will usher Kenya’s construction industry into the digital age, characterised by efficient, cost effective and sustainable infrastructure development.
